Research Focus
A 10-year veteran of Forrester, Chris is an analyst working with clients at global technology suppliers to improve their market position and strategy execution. He researches the overarching relationships of enterprise IT buyers with their strategic suppliers, especially the advent of environmental considerations in IT decision-making ("green IT").
Prior to rejoining Forrester's analyst team, Chris led Forrester's US research organization from 2002 to 2006. In this role, Chris was responsible for setting the firm's overall research agenda, budgeting and staffing, and developing high-impact research methodologies, including the Forrester Wave and Technographics®. Chris was also responsible for research integration with Giga Information Group, which Forrester acquired in 2003.
Over the past decade, Chris has led Forrester's research initiatives for IT and business executives in the automotive, consumer electronics, and telecom industries. He keynoted Forrester's flagship Executive Strategy Forum twice, oversaw the agenda and content for its Technology Leadership and Telecom Industry Forums, and published groundbreaking research, including "The Seeds Of The Next Big Thing," "Six New Technologies For Improving Business Results," and "Telecom Reconstructed." He has spoken at numerous industry events and with top-tier media outlets on a diverse range of topics, including consumer broadband adoption, linking IT spending to business performance, the impact of the Internet on telecommunications, and managing innovation in IT organizations.
Previous Work Experience
Before joining Forrester, Chris was a principal at GeoPartners Research, consulting for leading technology companies, including Hewlett-Packard, AT&T, and Intel. During the 1980s, he was with the investment bank Cowen & Company, where he headed its research coverage of the networking industry. He also worked at The Yankee Group as a telecom industry analyst. He began his career as a member of technical staff at IBM's network software labs.
Education
Chris holds degrees from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and the University of Pennsylvania.
